to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the journal of comparative policy research and analysis: research and practice (jcpa) welcomes scholars, graduate students, and practitioners to participate in the international conference on comparative public policy, sponsored by the society for international comparative policy analysis (icpa-forum) and hosted by the school of public policy and management, tsinghua university, beijing, china, to be held on april 19-21, 2024.
conference theme:
in today's increasingly digital world, advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, bio-technology and communication modes are deeply intertwined with every aspect of society, including public policy. policymakers around the world face the complex challenges of harnessing the power of these technologies to improve policy analysis processes, policy making and implementation, while keeping up the regulatory and policy framework to guard against the potential hazards to society.
this conference calls for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to engage in interdisciplinary comparative dialogues about the critical interplay between technology and public policy. we aim to foster discussions, widen debates, and offer innovative angles on the myriad ways in which today’s scientific break throughs and new technologies shape public policy. of particular interest are the theoretical implications and practical applications of the papers presented.
conference language and tracks:
the conference will accept only papers written and presented in english. we welcome submissions of papers of policy analyses on the topics related, but not limited, to the following tracks:
science and technology;
crisis and resilience;
environment and sustainability;
diversity, equality and inclusion;
global public policy;
urban and rural policy
politics and the policy process;
governance and public policy;
context, culture, and public policy;
frontiers in theories and practices of comparative public policy analysis;
special issue track: ai, data science, and comparative public policy;
special issue track: comparing climate policy implementation toward carbon neutrality
(note:for special issue track, the conference extends the possibility submit to the jcpa articles based on the papers presented at the conference. once blind reviewed, and pending acceptance, and deadlines adherence, the articles will be included in a dedicated special issue.)

all proposals must adhere to the aims and scope of jcpa, and include the following information:
(1) cover page: authors or (co)authors names, corresponding author, institutional affiliation, mailing address, email address;
2) text: of up to 500 words only considering: theoretical framework and/or development; methodology and/or development; research questions; findings and implications; innovations; unique contributions.

the prestigious journal of comparative policy analysis (jcpa) awards for best comparative conference paper are awarded at the annual conferences of 10 international associations (). it aims to recognize outstanding research on comparative policy research and policy analysis presented at their conferences.
the icpa-forum and jcpa are announcing the jcpa award for best conference paper in comparative public policy analysis, to recognize outstanding research submitted and presented at the international conference on comparative public policy, to be held on april 19-21, 2024, in beijing, china. the papers presented at the beijing conference will be reviewed by the members of an international adjudication committee comprising of leading scholars in the field, who will identify and decide on the winning paper. at the closing ceremony of the conference, the awardee will be extended an award certificate from routledge, jcpa and the society for international comparative policy analysis (icpa-forum), as well as an $1,000 monetary grant, facilitated by the institutional members of the jcpa and icpa-forum. a certificate of excellence will be extended to the runner up by the conference host, tsinghua university.
to be shortlisted, please submit your abstract by december 31, 2023, and indicate in the abstract submission form your interest to be included. if shortlisted, candidates will be informed about the committee’s decisions, by email, no later than january 31, 2024 and should submit a full manuscript by march 15, 2024. along with the manuscript please provide a cover page with the author’s name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, and email address.
only research that explicitly addresses comparative policy analysis are qualified for the award (please refer to jcpa aims and scope: ). candidates must be registered and present the paper in-person at the conference.
