mid program office & mdp executive director, professor yin chengzhi, organized and hosted the 11th lecture of the guest lecture series course in the afternoon of april 11th. assistant professor, zhang nan from school of public policy and management was invited to give a lecture along with a special guest; the director of beijing city management science and technology information center, dr. song gang. the topic was “electronic government: past, present and future”, about 30 international students attended the lecture.
professor zhang nan lectured on the history of electronic government, characteristics of this discipline, applications in various countries, and future development trends. in addition, professor zhang also summarized the graduation theses of mid and impa graduates who did their research on electronic government. professor zhang encouraged current students to do their research based on the situation relevant to their home countries’. dr. song gang brought a case study of beijing city management to illustrate the applications and shortcomings of e-government in the real world.
bios of speakers:
zhang nan is an assistant professor at the school of public policy and management, tsinghua university. he received his ph.d. in management science and engineering from tsinghua university in 2008. song gang is the director of beijing city management science and technology information center, and also a part-time professor at beijing university of posts and telecommunications. he graduated from institute of remote sensing gis, peking university with a phd degree.
